ArtSpace

2023

ArtSpace was a programme providing free exhibition and studio space for artists and creative makers that ran from May – November 2023. Brought to you in partnership with Hypha Studios and Babergh & Mid Suffolk District Council, ArtSpace was committed to providing underrepresented artists with opportunities to reach the next stage of their career.

The Old Fox Yard’s high street facing units were converted into studio and gallery spaces for the sixth month period, where three artists were selected to take residency. Each artist proposed a series of public engagement workshops, talks, and exhibitions to immerse the local community in their art. These artists were:

Heath Brown

A fine art photographer and digital media artist whose practice explores the idea of sublime in landscape and environment. His work is influenced by the landscapes of East Anglia where he creates striking imagery that captures the immediate environment and surrounding elements.

Esme Podmore

A mixed media artist from Stowmarket who uses found and donated objects to explore themes of memory and transience. Her practice involves wrapping or weaving objects in textiles, that are often accompanied by her own verses of text.

Patricia Cane

A fluid based artist from Stowmarket who uses acrylic paint with a range of fluid mediums to create large scale organic artwork on a variety of surfaces.
